K. Weick, who approaches the process of sensemaking with an interdisciplinary perspective, holds a unique position in the organizational theory literature. However, in the Turkish lit-erature, Weick’s theoretical and conceptual framework has received very limited attention. Studies focusing on Weick’s perspective often open up discussions on the strategic manage-ment process. However, Weick’s unique understanding offers many theoretical and practical opportunities. In this context, approaching Weick’s evaluations with a holistic perspective is of significant importance for the organizational theory literature. This study focuses on the sensemaking process in line with Weick’s evaluations. The study essentially aims to make two original contributions: The first is to address the sensemaking process from an interdisciplin-ary perspective; the second is to shed light on the intellectual world and the historical back-ground that informs Weick’s perspective on sensemaking. The study begins by introducing Weick’s approach in broad terms and provides its historical context. In the subsequent sections of the study, the ideas that inform Weick’s perspective on sensemaking are examined. From this perspective, the components of the sensemaking process as a whole, its subject, and its relationship to daily life are examined.

Anlamlandırma sürecini interdisipliner bir yaklaşımla ele alan K. Weick, örgüt teorisi yazı-nında oldukça özgün bir konuma sahiptir. Buna karşın, Türkçe yazında, Weick’ın teorik ve kavramsal çerçevesi son derece sınırlı bir ilgiyle karşı karşıyadır. Weick’ın perspektifini konu edinen çalışmalar, sıklıkla, stratejik yönetim süreçlerini tartışmaya açmaktadır. Bununla bir-likte Weick’ın özgün kavrayışı, teorik ve uygulamaya dönük pek çok imkân sunmaktadır. Bu düzlemde Weick’ın değerlendirmelerine bütüncül bir bakış açısıyla yaklaşmak örgüt teorisi yazını için önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışma, Weick’ın değerlendirmeleri doğrultusunda, an-lamlandırma sürecini odağa almaktadır. Çalışma, temelde, iki özgün katkıyı hedeflemektedir: Bunlardan ilki, anlamlandırma sürecini interdisipliner bir perspektifle ele almak; ikincisi ise, Weick’ın anlamlandırma perspektifini besleyen düşünce dünyasına ve tarihsel arka plana ışık tutmaktır. Çalışmada ilk olarak, Weick’ın yaklaşımı genel hatlarıyla tanıtılmakta ve tarihsel arka plana yer verilmektedir. Çalışmanın ilerleyen bölümlerinde ise, Weick’ın anlamlandırma perspektifini besleyen düşünceler ele alınmaktadır. Buradan hareketle bir bütün olarak anlam-landırma sürecinin bileşenleri, öznesi ve günlük yaşamla ilişkisi tartışılmaktadır.
